If you are a reader like me, then there is already a queue of books to read in your kindle, and a pile of hardcovers and paperbacks on your table. In my case I have a few piles. Plus a few lists in my phone. And now Goodreads is telling me to update all my stuff for the year end snapshot and there is no way I finish all of these books.
But time is precious during the holidays, and taking the time to sit and read is a gift to yourself. But what book will be worth your time? I always stand by the books that I post. But lately I have been getting some amazing(!) recommendations from a lot of friends. So I thought I'd share this great recommended list. I empirically trust the judgement of each person that gave me the books on this list. I hope it is helpful for your shopping - for others or for yourself. Enjoy! Trust, by Hernan Diaz March, by Geraldine Brooks Lunch in Paris, by Elizabeth Bard The Poet's Game - a spy in Moscow, by Paul Vidich The Secret Christmas Library, by Jenny Colgan The Heir Apparent, by Rebecca Armitage Emperesses of Seventh Avenue, by Nancy MacDonell The Let Them Theory, by Mel Robbins The Plot, by Jean Hanff Korelitz Who Better Than You?, by Will Packer I love to read a book that is set in the place I’m traveling to or am visiting.
Since the Holidays are a very busy travel season, I thought I’d pull together a list of some of my favorites - based on the destination. I hope these amazing novels can help get you further immersed in your travels. Enjoy! 💂🏻London: By Any Other Name, by Jodi Picoult (perfect for reading before or during a trip to London if you’re a Shakespeare person) All That Life Can Afford, by Emily Everett (so good for a London trip) The Secret Book of Flora Lea, by Patti Callahan Henry (family history and a mystery) 🇫🇷 Paris: The Paris Novel by Ruth Reich (perfect prep for a Parisian jaunt) The Paris Apartment, by Lucy Foley (will have you guessing the whole time!) The Paris Wife, by Paula McLain (based off of “A Moveable Feast”, it’s the experience of Hemingway’s wife, Hadley, in Paris) 🇮🇹 Italy: One Italian Summer, by Rebecca Searle (I still dream about this book) The Sicilian Inheritance, by Jo Piazza (a fantastic mystery) 🗽 New York: The Doorman, by Chris Pavone (one of my Top 5 books for the year!) Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson (for a trip to New York or Brooklyn) The Cloisters, by Katy Hays (for the museum lovers New York) The Spectacular, by Fiona Davis (especially if you are planning to see the Rockettes!) 🌊 West Coast: Malibu Rising, by Taylor Jenkins Reid (epic LA story) Jane and Dan at the End of the World, by Colleen Oakley (such a clever mystery! Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, by Gabrielle Zevin (one of the best books I have ever read) 🍑 The South: Summers at the Saint, Mary Kay Andrews (I always love a novel from MKA, and this one is set on the Georgia coast) All We Ever Wanted, by Emily Giffin (I’m a huge fan, and this one is set in Atlanta) Under The Southern Sky, by Kristin Woodson Harvey (set on the Carolina coast) What the Mountains Remember, by Joy Callaway (Set in Asheville and the Grove Park Inn) The air is getting crisp, the leaves are changing colors, and my favorite reading nook is calling my name. A number of you have asked for new reading suggestions, so here’s my list for Autumn.
Best enjoyed with a hot bevvie and a fuzzy blanket. These should keep you "Fully Booked" for a while! Everyone is Lying to You, by @jopiazzaauthor The Correspondent, by @virginia.l.evans Mean Moms, by @emma.rosenblum It’s a Love Story, by @annabelmonaghan There is No Ethan, by @annaakbari Broken Country, by @clarelesliehall Since it is that "back to school" time of year, I thought I would share some books that are more like continuing education rather than my usual fiction.
Many of these have come from being a member of the Marketing Roundtable here in Atlanta, which is housed at Georgia State in the Robinson College of Business. It is one of the longest running Marketing Roundtables in the country, and its goal is to bring together the top marketing officers of some of the largest firms based in Georgia. It is an invaluable resource for me in my career. Here is my list. I hope you find some books in here for your own continued growth and inspiration: Mindshift, by Brian Solis @briansolis Unstuck, by Stephanie Stuckey @stuckeystop The Stress Paradox, by Sharon Horesh Bergquist @thegoodstressdoctor The New Science of Customer Relationships: Delivering the One-to-One Promise with AI, by Thomas H. | The best part of summer is floating in the pool and reading the day away. I look forward to it all year. I have been reading a LOT this summer, and many of you have asked me for suggestions of what to read on your trips. I am currently reading "The Spectacular" from Fiona Davis, whom I love. I've been waiting for this book for months, plus is takes place in New York and I am always up for a book set in my hometown. The same goes for "Same Time Next Summer" by Annabel Monaghan which took me back out to the Hamptons that I love and miss. "The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise" was super fun as it takes place in my new hometown, Atlanta. And "The Paris Daughter” from Kristin Harmel I could NOT put down. This list is not a comprehensive list, so if you are looking for other ideas please let me know. I’m always happy to help other book addicts. I have been reading a lot this year. Some of it is pure entertainment, some of it is research for the historical novel I am working on, and some of it is just because there are so many good books piling up on my nightstand. Nothing makes me happier than curling up with a good book, a cup of tea, and a snuggly kitty. Since many of my friends know how much I like to read, I am often asked for recommendations, especially during the Summer or for Fall road trips. So I thought I'd share a list of some of my favorites so far this year. As seen in the photo(s) above, and in no particular order (other than the order in which I read them), here is my list so far for 2022. Those with an asterisk are mysteries for my mystery lovers. And if you are looking for a good mystery, I would also add to that list two books I ready last year that were awesome! They are: The Last Thing He Told Me, by Laura Dave, and Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman.

One of the things I love about Fall in the South is being able to sit outside and read in perfect weather. It's not crazy hot and humid outside anymore, and the Fall seems to go on for ever. I sit outside on a chaise with the dogs, sometimes with a light throw blanket, and a mug of tea and I could sit there all day. As they say, "You can't read ALL day....unless you get started early in the morning."
I have been reading so many fabulous books this fall. Here are some of my favorites:
The Lost Apothecary, Sarah Penner
Payback's a Witch, by Lana Harper
Apples Never Fall, by Liane Moriarty
A Special Place for Women, by Laura Hankin
When Stars Collide, by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
and
The Personal Librarian, by Marie Benedict

As a follow up to my reading list from 2020, I was asked to share my reading list from 2019 as well. What I love most about compiling these lists is that I get to revisiting the books, and it reminds me of what was going on or where I was traveling when I read it. For example, Daisy Jones and the Six will always make me think of being poolside in Cancun. And Dragon Springs Road makes me think of the beach in Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI. What are some of your favorite travel-associated book memories?
The Huntress by Kate Quinn
Dragon Springs Road by Janie Chang

Since my friends all know that I love to read, I am often asked for reading suggestions.
So I wanted to share my reading list from 2020.
This list does not include the books I read for work and to increase my business acumen.
These are strictly for pleasure, and in no specific order. And I am happy to discuss any of them with you, like a mini book club. Just let me know. Enjoy!
