Travel Reading

I love to read a book that is set in the place I’m traveling to or am visiting.

Since the Holidays are a very busy travel season, I thought I’d pull together a list of some of my favorites - based on the destination. I hope these amazing novels can help get you further immersed in your travels.

Enjoy!

💂🏻London:
By Any Other Name, by Jodi Picoult (perfect for reading before or during a trip to London if you’re a Shakespeare person)
All That Life Can Afford, by Emily Everett (so good for a London trip)
The Secret Book of Flora Lea, by Patti Callahan Henry (family history and a mystery)

🇫🇷 Paris:
The Paris Novel by Ruth Reich (perfect prep for a Parisian jaunt)
The Paris Apartment, by Lucy Foley (will have you guessing the whole time!)
The Paris Wife, by Paula McLain (based off of “A Moveable Feast”, it’s the experience of Hemingway’s wife, Hadley, in Paris)

🇮🇹 Italy:
One Italian Summer, by Rebecca Searle (I still dream about this book)
The Sicilian Inheritance, by Jo Piazza (a fantastic mystery)

🗽 New York:
The Doorman, by Chris Pavone (one of my Top 5 books for the year!)
Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson (for a trip to New York or Brooklyn)
The Cloisters, by Katy Hays (for the museum lovers New York)
The Spectacular, by Fiona Davis (especially if you are planning to see the Rockettes!)

🌊 West Coast:
Malibu Rising, by Taylor Jenkins Reid (epic LA story)
Jane and Dan at the End of the World, by Colleen Oakley (such a clever mystery!
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, by Gabrielle Zevin (one of the best books I have ever read)

🍑 The South:
Summers at the Saint, Mary Kay Andrews (I always love a novel from MKA, and this one is set on the Georgia coast)
All We Ever Wanted, by Emily Giffin (I’m a huge fan, and this one is set in Atlanta)
Under The Southern Sky, by Kristin Woodson Harvey (set on the Carolina coast)
What the Mountains Remember, by Joy Callaway (Set in Asheville and the Grove Park Inn)
