![]() Weeds are inevitable, but the ones along the cracks in the driveway and pea gravel pathways drive me crazy. As a result, I decided to give this popular online recipe for a homemade weed killer a shot. The recipe combines white vinegar, dish soap, and Epsom salts. And it worked great! Vinegar alone will kill weeds, but it's more effective when combined with soap and salt. The acetic acid in the vinegar burns the leaves, while the Epsom salt dehydrates the plant by pulling out its moisture, and the dish soap acts as a surfactant, helping the solution stick to the plant leaves. Please be aware that while this method is effective for temporary weed removal, it may not kill the roots (especially for more stablished plants) and those weeds can grow back. It is also non-selective, as it will impact any plant it comes into contact with. So be very careful when applying. Bonus points for these ingredients also being budget friendly.
